Title: HD Plants Script to set shaders to Vray
Post by: MN3180 on December 10, 2012, 11:01:07 PM
Hi,

My company has purchased HD Plants 1 and 2, I have installed the catalogue to the library, it all works fine and as expected. But I have a problem, now I have a couple of hundred files containing plants with MR shaders on as default, I need to update these to vray shaders, and update the bitmap paths to my local file structure. Is there a simple/scripted way to do this? Opening hundreds of files and altering and re-saving is very unappealing.

Thanks

If you use the HQ Plants trought Forest Pack and the HQ Catalog add-on, the vray materials are applied automatically. Please see this tutorial for instalation steps:

Same problem here, but add the following;

When using some of HQ Grass in Vray via Forest, the grass file being referenced by default has a MR material applied.
I think that "Bedstraw" are the specific models I am mentioning in this case, although it may happen elsewhere that I have only yet to notice.

Thanks

You are right, the Bedstraw VRay model have a wrong material assigned.

3D Mentor should fix it, but there is an easy workaround:

1) Open the file models-vray\vray-models-bedstraw-01.max.
2) Select the VRay material from the material editor, and apply it to the scene's objects.
3) Save the scene.

Doing this, it will work fine from HQ Catalog.

You are also right, it is an easy fix, but I worry how many more I will encounter.
Not so quick if you have to open/check/re-save all the models...

Thanks
