Installing HQ Catalog on different hard drive
« on: July 24, 2013, 08:23:56 PM »
Is it possible to install HQ Catalog on a different hard drive than the one Forest Pack is installed on? For example, I have 3 hard drives in my computer and I have Max and Forest Pack installed on my C drive. Being that my C drive is a SSD, I want to keep as much space on it as possible. Is it possible to install the HQ Catalog and models on my other hard drives?

The models can be placed in any arbitrary location where you unpack the library, please see this video about how to install the HQPlants models:

http://www.itoosoft.com/forestpack/tutorials/tutorial_library_addon.php

To also move the location of the catalog, just select a different location where you are asked in the installer. This also can be done iwith ForestPack installers to change the location of default libraries.

What if I wanted to leave HQ Catalog on the C drive but store the models at a different location how would I go about that? From my understanding, doesn't the models have to be in same folder as the HQ Catalog?

No. You can store the models in any local or network drive, regardless of HQ Catalog.

In fact, we suggest not storing any model in the HQ Catalog folders, because they will be deleted when upgrading or uninstalling the addon.
