BR-52 Steam locomotive.
Hi, today I'm presenting a personal project. I had a lot of fun making it. The project was quite challenging and time-consuming, especially unwrapping. What you can see is full 3d, except cutout people. There is a ton of forestpacks ( greenery ), some railclone objects ( wooden logs in the canal, tracks and telegraph line ). I did not want to take any shortcuts, so no cheating using AI enhancers, no matte painting, only 3d stuff.
The locomotive and tender have been split into 6 UDIM tiles for best texture quality. Texturing done in Adobe 3D Painter, 6 textures at 8K each.
Fumes and steam simulated in Embergen, rendered as VDB in 3ds Max + V-Ray.
Postproduction done in Affinity.
