Title: Change some elements by hand or randomly
Post by: yp on April 04, 2013, 12:24:40 PM
Hi,

first of all, RC is a great tool!

Probably this was asked before but I couldn't find anything about it in the forums.
(Maybe the thread about "random construction" does mean something similar.)

Is it possible to select elements by hand or randomly or every n-th to be replaced by another custom geometry object?

So e.g. a facade may get some elements varying from the main object?

If this is not possible now, will it be in RC 2?

Thanks in advance

Yes, this feature is available in RC2.

The first beta is already available for Pro customers. You can see the documentation and tutorials here (http://www.itoosoft.com/railclone2.php), as well as the beta forum (http://www.itoosoft.com/forum/index.php?board=21.0).

Thank you for your quick reply.

Yes, I had a quick look at the beta forums and the RC2  tutorial section.
Looks quite promising ;)
The slate view seems to offer a great overview over complex objects.

I read you're going to release RC2 withing the next days- planned before official release of 3DS 2014 (which is out already)

Will there be an option to upgrade for free to RC2 if I'd buy it before?
Will RC2 be the same price as RC1? (..if you're willing to tell ;) )

I think we will not release the final version before May. Although this beta version is pretty stable, we should wait at least one month for testing.

RC2 will follow the same subscription scheme of RC1 and Forest 4, so all customers with active subscriptions will receive it without cost. Since each new license includes a year of subscription, you can purchase it now if you like.

Probably we will adjust prices for the new release, because we have not modified our price list since long time ago. But in any case, it will not be a dramatic increase. Perhaps 10 Eur more or so.

Sounds good.

So I'll make my mind about buying it soon- and if the beta version is quite stable so far it wouldn't be a big risk to download it from the clients area then-
probably swapping it to the final relase should be easy, too.

Thanks for this information.

A happy future customer ;)
