I've read the documentation, but I just can't work it out. How is Rail Clone different from just creating and object and Instancing it a bunch of times?

HI,
RailClone is creating geometry at render time using the Renderer's native geometry shaders, the instances don't actually exist in the scene which is kept very very light as a result. Moreover RailClone has many features to manipulate, bend, deform, distribute, randomise and sequence instances. Of course if you choose to you can also use RailClone tools to convert a RailClone object to native instances. This can be useful for sharing the file with someone who doesn't have RC installed.. You can see a little more about RailClone's features on our Tech Specs page - https://www.itoosoft.com/railclone/techspec.php
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.
Many Thanks,
Paul
