RailClone doesn't get the materials from the segments, as Forest does with the custom objects. You must assign the material to the RC object, and create a multi-sub if required.

ooook, well with that answer i can start looking for a way to do that, any suggestions? how can i select the individual components of the object, should i turn the rc in to an editable poly/mesh?

What is the problem exactly ? Do you want to edit the resulting RC object because some material issue, or do you need to modify the geometry ?

mmm lets say i want to make a custom rail, with 3 different material, the vertical parts in stainless steel, the actual rail in wood, and a middle part in glass, or any other..
how can i do that without meddling with the library models  :-\ ?

The custom objects (segments) use the same material than RailClone. So, basically:

1) Create a multi-sub material with the 3 materials.
2) Apply it to each one of the segments. Change the material ID in the geometry where needed.
3) Create the RailClone object, and apply the multi-sub to it.

;D thanks! i have never used multisub materials before, never had the need to, but i´ll figure out myself how to, so don´t worry about it! great software you guys have developed i´m really looking forward to upgrading and buying the full licenses for both railclone and forest, the free versions  made my life a lot easier i can only imagine the great things i´ll be able to do with the pro versions! thanks a bunch!!!!
