Title: material assignment
Post by: amryounis on December 22, 2013, 02:49:10 PM
Hello, I was watching the tutorial for flooring. I need to know where exactly the presenter assigned material to the floor. I tried the same steps using a new file but with no material while when I did the same on the provided tutorial files the material is there. I checked the boxes the files had already and found no material assigned to them!!!

Hi,

The material should be assigned directly to the RailClone object. The materials on the source geometry are ignored when being imported into a RailClone style.

Hope that helps,

Paul

But in the sea promenade video tutorial, the materials from the lamp are not ignored when imported right? If I try to reproduce that, it automaticly assings the wall materials to the lamp. Im general I have troubles assigning more than 1 material (for example when there are different geometries included in the railclone obejct). I read in the forum that the materials have to be well prepared, but it doesnt say how to do so ( I am newbie working with railclone). Is there a thread or sth else where this is descriped? I didnt find anything about it in the video tutorials, descriptions or the forum.
Greetings :)

You must prepare a multi-sub material, in the same way as if you were attaching all segment meshes in an unique object.

if i remember well, lamps uses the same muti material of the balustrade (since both are created with the same RC object), so the material was already assigned in a previous step.
