Just installed Railclone Lite in case it had the functionality I need. All I need is a spline that has geometry instanced/cloned along the entire length and where I can rotate the spline/path so that it banks.

Using 3ds max. If this is something that pro can do but light cant' then I'll consider getting it. I'm a little skeptical because it's the actual 3ds max vertex that I want to rotate and for some reason max doesn't allow you to rotate a spline vertex in that particular axis.

I'll also need the road to change elevation, so I'm guessing lite can't do that either.

Thanks

Hi,

The RailClone plug-in can handle rotations of used geometry for example by an expression, but it sounds to me more like a task for the 3ds max's Loft Compound Object, where you can under Deformations tweak the Twist Deformation (and others) by a curve.

Let me add, that one of LITE version limitations is, that "Adaptative height features are disabled. Only can be used with flat splines (on Z axis)".

Best regards,

yeah I need more than just an extruded cross section shape, I need a piece of geometry that's instanced alone the spline.

so wait, are you saying that Railclone can do this? and is it complicated? I

Although rotations can be handled from expressions, i think it may be difficult to control banking in the way you need.

This feature is in our wishlist, but it's not simple to implement. It would require some kind of gizmo, to define banking angles easily.
