Sloped plane

(1/1)

Fco3d:
Hello, I am working in this ceiling design, it supposed to be several wood slats different thickness, the problem is the ceiling is divided in big areas an they have different slopes, (like a stealth airplane) so I model the slats and assigned the same surface for clipping area and surface, the first time it worked fine, the grid follow the surface but now but when I try to copy to the next are the grid stay flat.
I try creating a new Rail clone from scratch, but still the same problem.

BTW I am using rail clone pro, but in my company IT does the purchase so I don't have access to rail clone pro forum :(

Thank you.

Paul Roberts:
Hi,

This should work, would you mind sending me a sample file of what you have so far and I'll take a look.

Many thanks!

Paul

Fco3d:
Thanks for the answer, I managed to make it work, but it feel really clumpsy,
I have to create a polygon from top view then move the vertex on the Z axes to some random height, then apply my railclone setup, then adjust that polygon to the real size of the roof, now if I move the vertex too much, some parts of the raiclone grid drop to z=0 and the rest stay in place, so it look really weird.
I am attaching the final ceiling max file.
Thank you
Fco.

Paul Roberts:
Hi,

Distortion can often be caused when the clipping area and the surface boundaries are coincident. This is a know limitation that we're working on improving. In the meantime the solution is to use a clippling spline that's smaller than the surface - you can see more information about this and a handy script in the Extending Boundaries section at the bottom of this page.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have further questions.

Many thanks!

Paul

Fco3d:
I'll that a try.
Thank you for your help.

Fco.
