Title: 2S Array geometry aligned with XY or spline but clipping it on Global Z axis
Post by: RC2292 on July 14, 2021, 04:08:23 PM
Perhaps this is something that can be done with expressions or would be easy to implement as future functionality.

In an example such as roofs and specifically the rafters. I'd like to be able to have them auto aligned to the clipping spline or XY but be clipped on the Global Z access so the ends are vertically clipped rather than at the angle of the spline.

Is this possible at the moment?

Thanks

Would You add a max scene to illustrate it ?

Thanks for the prompt reply Rokas.

(Attached max file)

To clarify the blue line is where the current clipping is happening but wondered if there's any way of making it happen vertically as per the red line?

That option would be hard(if not impossible) to implement and would make it more confusing.
I would suggest You to generate this structure with nested Linear Array and use clipping spline to cut on your desired axis.

That's a shame. It's a good solution for one or two roofs but I was hoping to create multiple roof shapes and pitches in one.
Thanks again for your time Rokas.
