Title: 3ds max 2017 crashes when opening a previously saved scene with RailClone object
Post by: Siim on August 17, 2016, 09:57:38 AM
Hello

I recently tried to jump over to 3ds max 2017. Everything went smoothly until I tried to open a scene that I was working on the previous day. Max crashed when trying to open the file. I then tried to merge objects from the file to a new scene and got the same result - crash. When I finally managed to somehow open the file I saved it in max 2016 format and all is OK when working in 2016.

I contacted Autodesk as well, but I have a feeling it is an issue with RailClone. Here are some test results from merging objects to a new scene:
Open file - crash.
Merge all objects into new file - crash.
Merge all but RailClone objects - success!
Merge only RailClone objects (without splines and other objects used in RC arrays) - success!
Merge RailClone objects with influences - crash.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Best regards
Siim

Hi,

As we can´t reproduce similar problems here and it might be something very specific for such scene, can you please send us (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=3648.0) your scene to analyse it here? Also please specify your configuration - which RailClone / renderer releases are you using? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Just in case...
Do you have any Xref'd object in your scene?

No, there should be no Xrefs in the scene.
