Title: 4K screens
Post by: JG_archviz on September 01, 2017, 10:49:30 AM
I got a laptop running a 4K screen with windows 10
With 3dsmax2018 it works quite okish for most UI elements, just Forrestpack and Railclone seem a bit off. maybe I've not yet found the perfect zoom level in windows to match every plugin.

What could help - if the with of property panel wouldn't be fixed - it always snaps back to its original size when selecting other elements.

Hi, this is a known issue, and it's in our to-do list.

The graphical API we use for Style Editor, Lister and other elements (Qt 4.x) doesn't support 4k screens.
We must migrate it to a recent version, similar to Max 2017/2018 which uses Qt 5.x. But this is a complex process, and requires many changes in the code and our compiling workflow.

Apologies for any inconveniences. I hope we can do the migration soon.

Any update? More and more 4k laptops are coming and the problem still persist.

So any progress on this?

Its been a while of knowing about the issues, Railclone in particular is a bit of a pain to navigate around.

Hi, the latest RC4 beta (4.0.7) (https://forum.itoosoft.com/announcements/railclone-pro-4-0-7-beta/) lets you to resize the Property panel, and removes the width limits for all panels.
We have troubles to get a complete solution for the font scaling issue, but we continue working on that.

Other possibility is to force scaling by Windows, setting right-click on the application icon->Properties->Compatibility->Change high DPI settings->Override System (enhanced).
In that way, both Max and plugins will look correctly, although a bit blurry because the scaling. You can see the details here (https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-adjust-high-dpi-scaling-in-windows-10/).
