Vertical Clipping Area - Base Point
« on: August 17, 2016, 09:59:40 PM »
Hello,

I am using vertical Array 2S Generators to generate curtain walls for a high-rise building facade. I am using splines for clipping areas and all is working perfectly with the exception of the generated geometry base point. Every time I adjust the clipping spline vertices, the railclone jumps around and goes out of alignment in the X and Y compared to how it was before the spline edit. Is there a way to tell RailClone to use its pivot as the base point so I can lock it in place while just adjusting the clipping spline to tweak the area?

If not, consider this a feature suggestion. ;-)

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm guessing you're using the Extend X/Y Size to Area feature? If so this problem occurs because the optimum size of the array is calculated based on the size and shape of the spline, so as you change the spline the array size also changes. The best workaround therefore is to turn off Extend X/Y Size and instead manually set the size of the array using either the X/Y Size spinners or two splines. By separating the Clipping function and the size in this way you will be able to edit the clipping spline without it affecting the layout of the array.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul
