Vertex Colours/Illum/Alpha
« on: March 26, 2019, 09:53:49 AM »
Is there a way to affect VC/VI/VAs using some macro or an operator?

If not could this pass as a requested feature suggestions?

VCs and VIs are in RGB, VAs theoretically also can be (allowed in DX) but MAX has no UI for that and uses 0-100 range which would be sufficient.

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch. Currently there's no way to modify the vertex colours using RailClone. In order for us to understand if it might be possible in the future, could you let us know a little more about how you'd like to be able to control the Vertex Colours? An example use case could be helpful too.

Many thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

we use them for various things mainly for texture blending with our shaders and also for shading.

Things that RC could do is random colour assigment to vertices per the whole generated RC object, not just for the segment

So say I create a side of a building, it would be good to be able to assign randomly various vertex colors/alpha/illumination from specified range.
Perhaps even with randomness probability so certain areas are more prone for this VC and others for that VC.

I would find this useful too, although I'm unsure how it would be best implemented. Perhaps the option to multiply/overlay/add/subtract all vertex colours by a configured value would be useful too.
