Title: Align Y with Surface but take Z from spline
Post by: mike.kominek on October 22, 2019, 11:24:06 AM
Hello,

i was wondering if there is a way to make my segments align Y with the surface as per the Tick Box "Align Y with Surface" in segments Deform section, but make the segments otherwise be placed according to the spline as if I had no Surface used in my Linear generator (If there is surface used in the generator, it is automatically used for the segments' Z axis, which is not desirable for me)

Thank you

it is not to Z axis, it is to the Plane that RC is aligned to. Z is default if You have created RC icon in Top or Perspective viewport.
If You create RC in Front viewport, it will be aligned to YZ plane.

It does not matter what is the axis called, what I meant is that I want my RC to follow the spline, but align the tilt of the object according to the surface below it, which happens when I tick "Align Y with Surface". For that to work, a surface needs to be provided to the generator, but when it is, surface automatically used for UP/DOWN of the RC segments too and spline is then only used for LEFT/RIGHT BACK/FORTH.

Is there a way to tilt my segments to the surface below it yet the positioning of the segments would still follow the spline just as if a surface was not provided?

I am sorry- I have misread Your question.
This is not available at the moment. Added to the improvements list.
