Roof Tiles Macro: Padding don't work
« on: March 12, 2021, 09:41:53 AM »
I try to modify one of the roof presets using different tiles.
It works somehow. Now I need to tweak the gaps between the tiles using padding parameter.
But no value works. There is no change no matter what number I enter.

Hi Michael,

Are you using the Padding parameters found in the Macro's properties? The will override anything that you enter on the Segment itself.

Thanks,

Paul.

If You could attach Your max file and tell what You are trying to achieve- we could take a deeper look.

I just try to use the Roof Macro to build a simple roof with two verges.

The tiles to the left and right fit well. But The need to be more shifted towards each other. Like 5cm or so.

I attached the file. :)

Hi Michael, thank You for the file.
Maybe in this case You dont need a macro? maybe simple generator will do the trick:

Hope this helps

Thanks! It's what I was looking for. :)

But somehow I thought the Roof Macro replaces the Array solution.

Hi Michael,

the roofing macro is designed for tiles that are rotated slightly so that they overlap one another. When you increase the angle. the macro uses the tile's thickness to automatically calculate the top padding required. Your style is a little different because the tiles interlock rather than overlap, so in this case it wasn't suitable. I hope that helps.
