Hi Guillermo,

I'm afraid at the moment it isn't possible to control animation playback using RailClone, though it has been requested and is on our wishlist.

However, you may find that you can do the same thing using Forest Pack in Tree Editor mode. You can read more about this mode and find a procedure for scattering along a path here (http://docs.itoosoft.com/display/FORESTPACK/Tree+Editor#TreeEditor-Tocreateitemsalongapath).

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have further questions.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Guillermo,

We've had another think about this and actually there is a way to create randomised animation by duplicating the proxies and changing their offsets. To do this.

Many thanks,

Paul,

thanks for the replay. i have done it before in Forest pro and i think i will go that way as i have more options to randomize the color with forest color. but i have another question if I'm doing the seats with railclone is there an easy way to align the people done in forest with the railclone seats? or will i have to distribute a mesh from railclone  in order to use as a base in forest?

Hi Guillermo!

The easiest way is probably to use RC to create a triangle for each chair. This can then be accessed in Forest Pack as a marker to place each person. You can find a more detailed description and a scene file in this thread (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=2063.msg7605#msg7605), but please let me know if you need any further info.

Not necessary in this case as you're using Forest Pack for the animation, but I've also created a little Maxscript to help create proxies with offset times for use in RailClone. Nothing fancy, but it's attached in case it's handy.

Perfect Paul,

perhaps it would be a good idea to add all this type of tips to the manual, like how to or tips?

thanks,

Paul,

i think i just found a bug, i have an stadium with more then 65000 animated people, forest tells me that the display limit has been reached but that it will render fine or i can increasing the limit in the display dialog, if i don't increase it, max crashes at the end of the render but if i increased it it works fine.

this is in max2016 and vray 3.20.02
