animating escalator??
« on: March 16, 2015, 05:37:51 PM »
I can't find any info or figure out how to animate an escalator.  Is there an animate check box like in ForestPack?

Hi Scott,

Are you referring to the escalators from the included library?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,

Apologies for the delay. To animate the escalators you can use the following steps:

  • Change the Default In/Out tangents for new keys option to Linear. This is to prevent 3ds Max automatically adding ease in and out to the animation.

  • Turn on AutoKey and animate the Parameters > Step Animation value from 0% at frame 0, to 100% at Frame 20 (for example). This value represents the animation of a single step
  • To make the animation loop, open Graph Editors > Track View - Curve Editor.... Select the animated track and set the Parameter Curves Out Of Range type to Cycle

  • To adjust the speed of the animation, just change the timing between the two keyframes

You should now have an escalator that with a looped step animation.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have further questions.

Many thanks,

Paul
