Another newbie question
« on: October 28, 2015, 06:20:03 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying to achieve a simple parametric sofa, with Linear1S.

Here's my original mesh :

After Railclone Slice

Result Linear1S, adaptive mode,  no vertex welding

Detail

I have issues with transitions between start evenly and the default cloning.
I tried to tweak almost every parameters and mode, and run again through few tutorials but now time flies and I have to ask here.
What am I missing ?

Thanks,

Julien

Hi Julien,

It looks to me like the original sofa model does not quite have the same cross section where it is sliced at the start, end and either side of the evenly segment. This is quite common with more organic models and it may be necessary to slightly edit the connecting vertices to ensure that they perfectly align with the adjacent segments. If you haven't done so already it may also be necessary to set all the segment's Alignment > Y to Pivot to ensure the segments line up correctly.

If you want to send me the file I'd be happy to take a closer look,. If you'd prefer not to upload it here please send it to support@itoosoft.com.

Many thanks!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your answer. I solved it by giving an accurate slice with calculated values, and no evenly segment (defaut includes it). I thought Railclone was kind of smoothing the transitions between sections. Now I have to work on a more complexe sofa, and multiple curved splines as path. You will certainly hear from me ;)

Thanks,

Julien

Hi Julien,

No problem at all, glad you fixed it. Interesting to see RailClone being used for furniture.

Many thanks!
