Hi,
I'm working on a simple window array (3ds max 2017, RailClone Pro 3.0.8), and all seemed to be working fine, except when I rendered, I noticed some really weird shading happening from V-Ray's ambient occlusion, which typically suggests overlapping co-planar faces. I converted my RailClone to an editable poly and noticed that all of the X Evenly segments are doubled up. Can anyone explain why this is happening and how I can avoid it? I'd prefer to not disable AO. Scene attached. Thanks!

Just a guess but I think you are using the Ambient Occlusion setting in Vray's Render Setup.
So just as a test, perhaps you could try setting up AO the way most pros would. As a separate render element
Add a VRay Extra Tex Map into your render elements. Set the map to a VRay dirt map and mess around with the settings until you get the desired result. You can then use this element as a Photoshop layer set to multiply.
Would love to know if you get the same result doing it this way. Though I have a feeling, it's not AO that is the problem here and sadly I don't have 2017 so cannot see for myself, as I use a more stable Max 2014

Hi,
Thanks for the provided scene. It's linked to the X Evenly - Extend to Side option. Please find attached modified scene having this option switched off. Null Segment have been added to the corners (to stop Left & Right of having the same issue). Hope you'll find it useful.
Best regards,

@FC Thank you for the suggestion. I tried as a separate element and still got the same results, but I do see how that method is advantageous as I can tweak the AO in post work if needed.
@Michal Works perfectly, thank you for the solution!
