Hi All

I am a complete novice at Railclone and I just cant seem to get an issue sorted. I have followed the curtain wall tutorial about a dozen times
and I just cant seem to get my default and Y evenly to evenly seperarte. It start fine and goes for about 3 arrays
before it goes completely out, as you can see from my picture.

I havent got a clue what I am doing wrong as I follow the instructions exactly. I know it should be the simplest operation !

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

It looks as though you've cloned the floor plates to make a taller building than demonstrated in the tutorial. That's not a problem but in the supplied scene the top floor has a slightly higher ceiling height than the others and that's why your Y evenly segments are getting out of alignment. Just make sure the spacing between the floors is identical and everything should work fine.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for the reply.

I have just made from scratch a floor 30 cm thick and 100cm high layered, again followed the instructions and it doesnt even come
close to matching up? I am feeling incredibly frustrated as I cannot for the life of me figure out why it isnt doing exactly what it should.
I have attached a file so if someone could check it out and point me in the right direction I would be so greatful as I have wasted 2 days
trying to figure out what should be the easiest thing.
Thanks

Steve

Paul Roberts:
Hi Steve,

The problem in this case is that the measurements are from center of floor plate to centre of floor plate which should be 130cm, but because the x spline is aligned to the top of the first floor the first evenly distance needs to be only 115cm for it to align correctly.

The solution is to use the tops of the floor plates as alignment point instead of the center. To do this you can set the evenly value to 130cm and then change the segment's Y alignment to Top. I've attached your file with this solution.

Hope that helps,

Paul

p.s. I cheated in the tutorial by moving the X- spline down by half the thickness of the floor plates.

Thank you so much Paul, I understand now.. I have a feeling I will be asking a few more questions in the future, this is such a powerhouse of a program, one button throws everything out.
