Clipping Area Issue
« on: June 14, 2017, 03:05:14 PM »
Hello,
I did not search the forum well but I did not find the answer to my question :)
My railclone does not cut one of my opening. I tryed to detach the spline, reoriented it and add a reset Xform but it didn't fix the issue.
Is there anything else I can do besides making several Railclone?
Thank you
Pierre

Did you make sure all verts are welded and all splines are closed? and that all splines are running in the same direction.. for example, select that problem spline and reverse it. Reversing splines is something I find myself doing a lot, to fix stuff, especially roof splines, which I generate from roof geometry and I often find them running the wrong way and the roof tiles are reversed

Hi,

In that scene I was able to fix the issue with a couple of steps.

1 - Change the spline's pivot so that it is aligned to the world axis.
2 - RailClone 3 has extra settings for clipping splines. One of these is called Hierachy Checking and for splines objects with multiple splines, it enables you to determine when a new array is created. The options are:
None Each spline generates a new array
Complete All splines are used to calculate clipping areas. If one spline is inside another or overlaps it is used to either clip the array or add a new one. (This is the RC2 behaviour)
Material ID This allows you to group together splines into material IDs - Each ID should creates it's own array. This works well for situations like your file where you have multiple overlapping splines, but each one is contributing to a different facade. In this case, give each group of splines a different ID and it should work as expected.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul

Hello Chris,
I follow again you advice for this  facade .In this one, I have different kind of cladding with different spaces . It works now fine except for the corner. I don't understand the difference between this case and the old one.
I would like to scale or cut the segment in order to fill the corner. How can I achieved this?
Best,
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

Raising the Clipping Area - Expand value (attaching screen-shot) should fix it. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your answer Michal.
It works, but is there a way to prevent the segment to be cut at the corner? I would like to scale all the segment in order to have the same width everywhere.

Hi,

Using the Default input in the Adaptive mode instead of the X Evenly should do the trick. By editing Padding or Fixes Size values of used Segment, you can tweak the final look easily. Hope that helps.

I tryed this method before but It didn"t respect the corner. And If I choose to unchecked slice in the segment deform option, the railclone disappear.

Hi Pierre,

"It didn"t respect the corner."
Would you mind to upload a screen-shot of the problematic place(s) as at first sight all seem to work correctly in my quick test? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I tryed one of the railclone cladding preset but it's does not do what I expected. I'm using a vertical clipping area and I rotate the RailClone object so that it is oriented correctly. As you can see, in the snapshot, the segment are not scaled to fit the area.
Is there something I have to change in the preset to prevent this?
Thank you

Hi Pierre, sometimes this just happens, workaround is to change first vertex in the spline:
