blind in front of the glass
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:05:36 PM »
Hello,
I want to put blinds to the railclone windows but I don't manage to align correctly the Railclone blinds with the glass. I can't move the windows as they are positioned according to the plan of the architect.

can you tell me how to do this?
Thank you
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

To attach blinds to these windows you could try the following.
  • Create a new linear array and set the Default Mode to adaptive. Set the X Evenly so that they match exactly those used in the generator that is creating the window mullions
  • Copy and paste the conditional nodes that you are using to target the 3 different material IDs and wire this into the Default input
  • Create your blind segment, change the Z Alignment to Top and plug in into 3 new transform nodes
  • Plug the transform nodes into the conditional inputs, you can then use the Z Fixed Offset value to position the top of the blinds with the top of the windows - because the alignment was also set to Top when you randomise the scale the blinds will stay where you want them
  • Use properties->transform->randomise->scale->Z to create blinds of different heights
  • Add empty segments to the start corner and evenly inputs and increase the left or right padding to create spacing between the blinds
  • Finally, to position the blinds outside the windows as in your screen grab, change the blind segment's Properties->transform->Fixed->Translation->Y value.
Hope that helps, please see the attached screenshot and scene file for more information.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you very much Robert,
It works perfectly. I have to study the role of these empty segments because that's what I missed in my previous attempts.
Your plugin always impresses me much :)
