Hi all,
Quite a complicated thing I want here and I'm struggling.....I'll try to explain it in as simple way as possible.
I have a brick floor made of three different sized bricks. 120x60mm, 160x126mm and 160x240mm. I have railcloned them using a clipping spline so they are in a random layout. Maxfile Attached.
I have been given three brick colours and a plan that the bricks gradient in colour from one side of the floor to the other. See attached capture image. I also need some varient among each of the 3 colours too.
Is this even possible in Railclone. I have a feeling it will be, I can't find a way using the railclone parameters which is what i think it needs, rather than tying to do it through a material which is what i am trying to do.
I've modeled the parking lines separately so just need to figure out the gradient.
Any help or suggestion appreciated!

Please see the attached file which has two sets of controls for transition position and a gradient range to give results similar to this:

It uses an adaptation of the techniques shown in this post: http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=3487.msg13603#msg13603
Because it's using a selector operator you can still create variety by randomising the material Ids within each section.

Thank you very much for this. It's amazing. I've taken a look but have found a problem. Because I have 3 different sized bricks, the current setup in the file is done with s puts one size at the bottom, one in the middle and one at the top. I need the sizes to be random throughout with just the colour changing. I see your picture has some varience id width but is this random, or with 3 set sizes?
I'll try and fix this myself, I think I need to copy the three brick sizes three times, plug each set of three in to a randomize, then go in to the selector...........I'm sure you know how to do it, but I'd rather figure it out. I'll get back to you if I can't do it.

Yes those sizes were just achieved by randomising the scale. You should be able to do this using the technique you describe though, just duplicate your 3 bricks and wire them to the Selector inputs via Randomise operators.

Indeed it did!
Now I just need to randomize the materials a little bit and I'm done. I'll post the final flow on here in case anyone wants it.
Some colour patterns/gradients might make a good library!
