Railclone for Rope: Texture problem
« on: September 09, 2014, 11:00:31 AM »
Hi,

I use railclone for a rope with spheres on it. It is for window hangings.
The diameter of the rope is 1,5 mm and the spheres are 5mm. The Railclone objects follows a simple spline. It also has the spheres every 2 cm .

Question: My texture shows repetition. I don't know how to apply the texture without seeing repetition / tiling problems? The texture itself is tillable.
How can railclone texture the rope? Perhaps you have a sample scene with just a rope  with correct texturing (I know how to get the spheres in) ?

Thanks for the help.

Best Regards,
Toni

You can use Segment->Deform->Mapping. It generates a seamlessly tiled mapping along the spline.

Thanks for the reply.

I know about the mapping...but; it is in box-mapping. For the rope I need cylindrical mapping.
Or I might be missing something obvious....

I see. You are right, the box-mapping cannot be used here.

Anyway, i've done a quick test: if the texture is tileable, the default mapping used in the segment should generate a tileable rope. I've attached a test scene (i got the rope texture from here).

Thanks for everything!!!
I had the padding of my segments on -1 cm. This was the reason the textures didn't tile.
Dumb me. Time to get a good night sleep.

Thanks again!
