Building Generator
« on: June 26, 2019, 06:01:14 AM »
Hi everyone, I've been working on a scene with a lot of buildings in Tokyo. To give you a kind of idea how the buildings I'm modeling look like, I 've attached an image. (attachment_1)

I have to model several dozens of these super generic buildings - I thought railclone could help me immensely since these buildings are relatively simple and share similar compositions. As a beginner to railclone, I've spent quite time trying to figure this out but struggling to get a decent result. Following is the general idea of what I want & progress so far.

1. I want to have RC presets that are made as versatile as possible ; parameters such as building height, floor height, parapet height, window size, window sill height, column offset, size of column, column evenly distance, size of horizontal fin, should be controllable.

2. I've sorted the buildings I have to model into roughly three types. All of them have rectangular spline footprint. (attachment_2)

3. It seems it's hard to make all of this with a single "Array 2S" I may have to nest a RC window into RC building structure. (attachment_3)

Any idea how to tackle this? Is there any tutorial that covers similar subjects?

Let me know, Thank you!

Hi

There are few topics discussing building creation. Recommended workflow is to separate building geometry to logical segments.

Here are few forum threads that can help You in building creation:

Buildings styles are very interesting. We are working to streamline a building creation in upcoming RC4 version.
Here is a little RC4 style teaser:

Thanks a lot Rokas! I'll take a look at them tonight.
Your company seems to have very responsive and dedicated customer service which is unusual for a software company.
