Help on curved stair molding
« on: October 07, 2025, 08:04:31 pm »
Hi
Im havin trouble replicating a molding for a curved stair
The only thing that helped me was ussing vertical deform but its causing steps and the piece is not getting a smooth surface
If I use Adaptive deform the object rotates in a different direction
I attach the file in max 23 and a reference

Hi Charly,

To achieve smooth result, you should avoid using Corner type vertices on the sloped sections of the base spline "Shape008". In the modified version of your scene, I’ve changed these vertices to Smooth. If necessary, you can also adjust the Style > Curve Steps value to further refine the spline. Let me mention that, in some cases, it might be necessary to add a few extra loops to the source geometry. However, that doesn’t seem to be needed in this case. I hope this helps.

Best regards,

I remember using smooth and didnt work but maibe I was using Adaptive instead of vertical
Thanks Michal !!!!!
