Title: Cladding presets
Post by: Arslan on July 20, 2022, 01:44:02 AM
Hello,

'cladding presets' is not working properly or I am making a mistake. The parts that will be windows are not left blank. and the value in the 'material parameters' part does not change the material. I am using max2022 and RC version 5.2.6.

Best Regards.

Hi,
First of all check if all splines are closed, you dont have duplicated sub-splines in same position and if railcone helper isnt rotated. Good to xform splines as well.
You need at least two railcones on two separates splines (red and blue) because walls are parallel so raiclone cant use proper slice plane (slice planes are overlapping).

if you use Corona play with multimap settings.

I checked...and in this example you dont need to tweak material itself - just turn on instancing engine

Another option is to change the Hierarchy checking mode.

As far as I recall the presets are set up using "Complete" hierarchy checking mode which attempts to work out which splines belong to which part of a wall, but when walls are opposite one another it can be a challenge. Instead there is a Material ID mode, which uses IDs assigned to the spline to tell RailClone which splines belong together. In situations like the ones in your screenshots, it'll work much better. To enable it.

- Open the Style Editor.
- Select the Cladding Macro
- In its properties, change Hierarchy mode to 2
- Group splines from the same wall together by assigning them the same material ID.

Disable the instancing engine in the Display rollout to get the Material feature to work. Unfortunately this is a limitation with Corona, but disabling instancing should fix it.

I hope that helps,
Paul

Thank you for your help. it is working on seperate splines just like red blue walls on your example (still material parameter doesn't work). i have 8 houses in same project so i need to create 16 rc objects, there will be a little chaos for me :) i tought if i attach together all house splines, just one RC object can enough for cladding but i got this error. btw i m using vray. i have tried on vray 5 and 6 but it wasn't a solution.

best regards.

Hi,

thanks for your file - it seems all the RailClone stuff is set up correctly by you just need to reset the xform for the spline. I did this in the attached file and it's now working.

The materials are working too, but you won't see them change in the viewport (V-Ray multi maps don't preview in the viewports). With V-Ray there's no need to disable the instancing engine either, I thought you were using Corona so you can ignore my previous instruction and turn that back on.

Best,
Paul

Try turn on Instancing Engine

Thank you so much.

i tried maybe 10 times reset the xform for the spline :) i guess the description of hierachy mode has small mistake, it is working when we choose 2.

best regards.

Oops! Yes, you're right, it should be set to 2.

Glad you've got it working now though.
