Title: Clipping Area Material ID attribute
Post by: theedge on August 03, 2020, 06:50:57 PM
Hello,

I made a A2S generator with a Clipping area assigned, using Extend X/Y Size to Area.
I assigned different IDs to the clipping area splines.
Now I'd like to change the A zotation of my A2S generator according to those different IDs.
So I thought I'd write an expression for that, but I can't find an attribute for the clipping area ID. Is this normal ?

Thank you.

Hi,

I can confirm that the fact that generators ignoring material IDs in clipping paths is by design. Limit by material IDs is not intended for use with clipping areas and only works with X/Y splines.
When using a clipping path RailClone is essentially using the X and Y size parameters to set the array and then clipping afterward, so it's working in a different mode. There are a few difficulties such as what would happen if a spline contained segments with different material IDs etc.

I hope that helps to clarify this behavior.

Thanks,
