Title: clipping area mtl id
Post by: Rokas on July 25, 2014, 09:10:42 AM
hi

I wonder why A2S clipping area doesn`t respect spline Material ID limits settings. Is it by design or just a bug?
BTW, another issue I have, that I can not drag out node out of A2S Clipping area green circle.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. This occurs because the Limit to material ID function is expecting the array to use a spline for the X Axis. When using a clipping path RailClone is essentially using the X and Y size parameters to set the array and then clipping afterward, so it's working in a different mode. There are a few difficulties such as what would happen if a spline contained segments with different material IDs? I'll report this to our development team and see if it's possible to add this feature.

I can confirm that it's not possible to drag a node out from the Clipping input in an A2S array, I've reported that as a bug.

Many thanks for the feedback,

Paul.

Hi,

I've had a chat to the development team and I can confirm that the fact that generators ignoring material IDs in clipping paths is by design. Limit by material IDs is not intended for use with clipping areas and only works with X/Y splines. As mentioned there are problems whereby a clipping path may have multiple IDs on the same spline, but also many users use clipping paths in conjunction with X/Y splines that may also use the limit by material IDs option to place segments.

I hope that helps to clarify this behaviour,

Thanks,

Paul

I had I hunch it might have been something like that...
Thank You.
