Clipping order
« on: September 11, 2015, 10:18:13 AM »
Hello guys,

Another question, this time about clipping.
I think it would be nice to be able to change the "order of the clipping".
Now clipping happens at the end of the stack i presume, meaning that Railclone first looks to all sides of the spline and than after this is done clipping is applied.
I would like it to happen earlier so that i can let Railclone know where I want broken boards at the end of each whole board.

Attached scenefiles max 2014 and screenshots.
If this would be possible it would open new and I think better ways in making lets say a hole in the wall with custom borders ( based on the clipping )

Thank you in advance,
P

Hi, as you figured out, clipping is applied in the last step of the RailClone workflow.

But i'm afraid there is not a simple way to change that, because clipping depends of the size and position of each segment. I mean, when segments are evaluated it's not possible to use a conditional rule based on if segment is cliiped or not, because RailClone doesn't know what will be the resulting segment... basically it's a recursive dependence issue.

Hmm that's a pitty, so there is no alternative way around this for now?

Do you think it is possible to include this option in further updates?
It would certainly add alot more options to the usage of RC !

I will discuss it with our RailClone specialist, but it seems difficult with the included tools.

I've added your suggestion to the wishlist, but not sure if it could be done. Perhaps with certain limitations, as assuming a default size for clipping before evaluating the segment.
