Clipping - Projection in local space?
« on: February 12, 2015, 08:09:44 AM »
Would it be possible to get a local coordinates toggle for clipping area? At the moment I'm using RC to make some cladding and cutting out the openings while RC is axis-aligned, then collapsing and putting in place. I'd much prefer to keep it an RC object!

Hi George,

What problem are you having exactly? RailClone already uses its own local Z axis to project and clip geometry and because the walls are vertical you'll need to align the RC object with the vertical clipping spline by either creating in the top viewport and rotating the RC object and clipping spline manually, or by creating the RailClone object in a front or side viewport to match the spline. It shouldn't be necessary though to collapse an RC object in order to do this. If you're able to share an example I'd be happy to take a look.

In the meantime there are also a few of posts on the forum relating to this issue that you may find helpful:

I hope this helps.

Many thanks,
