Cloning an 2S on a linear 1S
« on: July 02, 2020, 05:16:37 PM »
Good afternoon,
I'm currently setting a 2S system to setup a frame that matches a rectagular shape so as to fit any proportion and dimensions.

I'd like now to clone on a 1S system.
in this way I could just draw a line with several points and make it clone the frame only on those.
also, this would be done to be able to give some randomness in position and rotation.

I'm stuggling to clone it though, if I connect an 2S into a 1S it doesn't show up.

Is it allowed this procedure?

I know I could draw more rectangle, but in this way I'll lose the way to gice some randomness...

if it's not possible....any alternative solution?

If can help, the file max attached.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Fixed some parameters. Hope You can continue from here.
One important change i did is made it Free Object. and aligned RC pivot to Spline pivot.

Sorry to bother again.

What does it mean "is made it free object"?

sorry if the question sounds silly

EDIT

found it, that was what I was missing, thank you so much for your help

Good, now it works as you did, perfect.

Just one question more:

It takes the position of the points, but it doesn't follow the spline, i mean...
as you did, I had to centre the axis of the RC and then allign it to the spline object.

but if I move the spline it doesn't go with it, that actually I would expect it being a 1S.
is it because of the "free object?

any way to make it follow it?or not like I did because is wrongly set up?

I should note a simpler solution that might work better in some cases: You can simply nest segments ( not generators) by creating new rc object and using your Rc object as a segment.

mmmmm, understood what you mean.
I'll try that way, thanks so much
