Constrain banking adaptative mode
« on: September 26, 2022, 05:17:26 PM »
Hello,
I have a tricky question about RailClone. Is there a way to let the segment follow the spline (Adaptative deform mode), but constrain the banking to the world z axis? Similar to the Vertical deform mode but the segment is still following the tangent of the path.
Thanks in advance!

I will try to explain it more detailed using the example of curbstones.
VERTICAL is not usabel in this case, because when the road is steep, the curbstones will be distortet (comparison1.jpg).
So the best option would be ADAPTATIVE, but in this case the curbstones will not stay straight and get twistet alont the path (comparison2.jpg).
Is there a way to lock the rotation along the path?

Hi - this should be possible by adding a Transform node after the segments and in the Deform tab, activating Override Banking/X Rotation and setting the value to 0

I hope that helps,

Paul
