Expression
« on: October 06, 2021, 01:53:10 PM »
Hello everybody! The idea arose to study the expressions more deeply. I understand that there is nowhere without them).
I think that I will ask a lot of questions in this thread.
Tell me what is the error, why the expression is not executed correctly? Thanks!

Hi, expression is fine but RC is calculating coordinates from RC Object (RC Icon).
Just Move RC icon to 0,0,0

Realign helped me!)
Most likely I accidentally shifted the spline

Tell me, what trigonometric functions does the railclone support? Where can I see this? Thanks!

Hi,

Nearly all of the supported functions are listed in the Expressions editor under the Functions tab.

I hope that helps,
Paul

Hi!
Sorry, I look stupid).
While I have free time, I decided to spend it on studying the railclone. Therefore, lack of sleep makes itself felt)

Not at all, it's easy to overlook these things. I hope you enjoy learning expressions, they're very powerful once you get your head around them. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

I want to create a separate notepad for all expressions and a separate folder with simple scenes). I am currently having a problem with the XSectionLength expression. I tried to break the segments, make them different lengths, but nothing changes (. Can I somehow check the data, like in houdini? Sorry for my English. I hope you can understand what I mean. Thanks!

Hi Sergey,

If you haven't done so already, I would recommend starting with the chapter in our docs dedicated to expressions, and then have a go at writing a few yourself.

Best,

Hi Paul,
I read the documentation, there are many questions left. What advice would you give from practice on this topic? From simple to complex? Thanks!
