Title: Corner Handrail
Post by: OF4040 on April 22, 2014, 04:22:02 PM
Hello (And sorry about my english)

I am trying to model a metal handrail in railclone, is a simple object, just the posts and one default segment composed of cables and the top rail.
At the corners are displaced poles, and i want the top rail form the corner but not the the cables, is it possible to remove the cables in this exact spot?

Thanks for your support

This is an interesting style. To make things easier, i've used two generators: one for the handrail, and other for the cables and posts.

- The handrail is a simple generator using Default->Scale mode and Corner->Bevel.

- To create the corner, i composed two posts with an empty segment. I defined 30cm. of Left and Right padding to this segment, so posts are separared 60cm. between them.
The trick here is that when RailClone uses a Compose operator with an uneven number of segments for a Corner, it places the middle piece centered with the vertex.

- For the cables, i simply turned off Corner->Bevel. In this way, cables are extended only until the Corner segment (the posts). I also set Default->Mode to Scale for optimization purposes, but this is optional.

Thanks Carlos!!!

it never occurred to me to use two linear generators on the same subject, I was trying to cram everything into a single, the idea of an empty space was also new to me.
you saved me a lot of work!
