Corona not using Mat ID Parameter correctly?
« on: April 07, 2016, 09:53:05 PM »
Hi everyone,

I've created a simple railing in Corona using 8 materials (5 colors, 3 metals).  This multi/sub material is applied to both the original segment objects and the RailClone object itself.  I copied the material parameter node layout from one of the gutters as it provided the exact solution I was looking for - however when I render the railing in Corona, changing the Mat ID parameter only partly modifies the object.  Only horizontal beams near posts will change according to the value change, the remainder of the RC object will stick with Mat ID 1.  This issue still occurs with presets pre-loaded with RailClone - e.g. gutters.

Thank you for any help on this issue.

Hi,

Unfortunately the Material node used to randomise and material  IDs uses some unique features of V-Ray's SDK, so it doesn't work with other renderers. You can see a full list of supported features by renderer here.

If the poly count is not too high, one solution to get it working is to disable instancing. To do this go to the Display rollout and uncheck Use Instancing Engine.

I hope that helps, many thanks.
