Title: Creating spheres out of RC segments
Post by: Terri Brown on March 12, 2021, 03:39:35 PM
Hi there,

I have tried many times without luck to create spherical objects using RC. It's often something I need to model that I would love to have as a parametric object.

For eg. I want to create a geosphere made out of triangles (for eg. like the geosphere primitive in 3ds max attached), but I would like to have 5 different types of triangles to add variations (eg. some will be perforated, some won't etc). I tried using FP with reference mode, but it's a mission with the normals. I'm happy to use either FP or RC...I just don't want to waste more time experimenting if it's actually not even possible.

I'd like to create either the geosphere or a hexagonal model such as this: https://conkerliving.com/. Unfortunately, every time I try, the segments scale smaller as they near the sphere's apex.

Please just let me know whether I am wasting my time or not!

Thanks

I'd ideally like to create something with these shapes...anything that can interlink really.

I am not saying it is impossible, but I have no idea how, sadly.

haha well that answers my question then...if you don't know I DEFINITELY don't!
