Title: curved herringbone path
Post by: EU7057 on January 26, 2017, 10:58:32 PM
Any tips - workflow advice for making a curved herringbone path? At the moment I've got a single piece of geometry with 2 bricks angled to start the pattern. I might need to break that and set it up completely in Railclone since the 2 pieces were being textured as one with the random UV id.

Bend deform does some odd things to the geometry, but without it I was getting gaps between rows. I can post screenshots of my progress if interested.

Thanks

Hi,

Please find attached a sample scene showing possible set-up with slightly adapted "Parquet Herringbone" style (bundled with RC) - now using X Spline & Clipping Area. Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,

Thanks for this! looks like I can't open it with max 2015 - but I'll try and use the screenshot to rebuild it on my end. Was just about to try for a 3rd attempt today. Also finally pushed myself to use railclone to make a simple brick wall with end caps. Slowly but surely...

Hi,

It looks like, I've save it in newer format. Please find attached version which should work fine on 3ds max 2015.

Best regards,

thanks, realizing it is not an easy setup - is there a simple way to rotate the pattern 90 degrees on the path?
