Deform Flat Top Problem
« on: March 20, 2022, 11:48:46 AM »
Hi, i'm trying to follow the " How to model stairs with RailClone in 3ds Max " But when i try to use the Flat top option nothing happen no matter what value i put inside.
I really do not understand why.

Thanks, Alessandro

Hi,

Try a smaller value, there are a few differences between RC4 and RC5. It should be measured upwards from the X Spline.

Hi, I ve tried also small value but nothing change.
The workaround that I found is to align the bottom of the segment instead of the top than offset the array.
But like this I m confused on  how the flat top works.

A coworker of mine trying to get up to speed on RailClone also ran into this one today..

Is there a known or preferred change in setup or workaround ?
Or is it a bug that's still in RC 5.2.7 ?

Check this topic. Paul has explained. It is not a direct answer to your question but maybe it can help to understand.

Ah so the cause in the tutorial is basicaly the thread segment using top alignment (making it drop below the path).
When I set it to bottom it indeed works.

Perhaps update the Tutorial files to reflect this ?
