RC Clipping Area, Offset

Hey guys, when using clipping area with RailClone, how do I "move" all the segments so that they align to a certain something. I always move my segments but I don't think that's the proper way.

Hi,

The recommendable way would be to set the Geometry - X Size & Y Size to overlap the area, align your RC object as needed (move its transforms) and use the Clipping Area to remove unnecessary parts of the object. Hope that helps.

I see what you mean, and here I was thinking there would be a less cumbersome way.

@Itoo, there should be an option that you can move the whole railclone indepedent from the clipping area so you could align more easily.

Actually it's not possible to control X/Y size separately, but we have plans to include this possibility.

Actually it's not possible to control X/Y size separately, but we have plans to include this possibility.

Has this been introduced yet, because I need this a lot and I end up having to do all this cumbersome steps to fix issues that can be easily fixed with a X / Y offset feature.

Edit: I can see an X/Y offset feature but that just moves the whole railclone. When using clipping area it leaves 2 blank spaces if you use both X/Y. So not useful as this is the same as moving the segment.

Edit2: I found that raising the expand % in conjunction fixed the gap issues then. But I'm still convinced that a simple X/Y offset without the gaps and without fiddling with expand % should be included.

Maybe You could share an example? I am not sure I understand what gaps You are referring.

He`s referring on missing segments near the spline`s borders that can occur and can be fixed by expand parameter.

+1 for X/Y offset

I don't consider them "missing". They are absent by design.

Yes, You are right. I agree.
RC is usually fully predictable in results.
