Flooring with random sized tiles
« on: January 19, 2023, 10:18:09 AM »
Hi

I have to create a flooring with tiles made of natural stone, but with different tile sizes like in the image attached. Because we look at it from a close distance in our visuals, it should be detailed enough, therefore we were thinking if it would be possible to create this flooring in RailClone. The pattern should be random.

1) Is this possible to create with RC?
2) If so, can someone help me out on how to set this one up?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Well, as mentioned in the following "how to make parametric gabion wall?" tightly related post: "RailClone uses grid-like arrays so it's difficult to create a completely randomized and chaotic pattern. The usual solution is to create the illusion of randomized items by "pre-composing" them into segments of interlocking geometry.".

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Hi Michal

Thanks for your reaction, that's a useful link! I'll look into this and see where I get with it.
