Follow Spline but deform to ground
« on: June 19, 2024, 07:08:09 pm »
I have a decorative sculped wall that I need to deform in a way I cannot figure out. I need it to follow a spline but deform to the ground.  So another words I would like for the top of the wall to follow the spline but the bottom of the wall to glue and deform to the grading of the ground. How would I go about this?

Hi,

You can use the XSplineCoords.z attribute to drive the Z Fixed Size of the Segment. Please find attached a sample scene (240620_XSplineCoordsZSampleScene.max).

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Best regards,

Thank you so much for the help, I have two issues I still cannot figure out.
1) I need to be able to slope the spline it follows for the top of the wall also. When I slope the spline for the top of the wall it stays flat.
2) I need the object to morph so it's smooth and not jagged like in the image I attached. Hope this makes sense.

In this case, it would be advisable to split it into two Generators. Please find attached a sample scene illustrating the possible style setup. Depending on the segment used, you can adjust the Deform > Flat Top / Flat Bottom parameters accordingly. I hope this helps.

Best regards,
