GEOMETRIC PATTERN

GT4505:
Hi there,

I'm working on a project for a client where I've got to make a tilable pattern where I'd like to use railclone because it give's me the most control.
In the attachement you can see what the pattern has to look like.

Can someone please advise me on how to generate this in railclone?
Thank you

Hello
I think this is really similar to this one i've asked to help me with : http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=3827.0
In your case it's just different shapes.

Paul Roberts:
Hi!

You're right! The approach to this style is more or less identical to the one shown in the link. First of all you should use a compose operator to combine your three segments into a single unit. These are the 3 we need.

We combine these using a compose operator, adjusting the padding and Y translation until they are correctly positioned.

Each row is offset, so to create this I've added another compose operator with only segments 2 and 3. The padding for segment 2 is then adjusted using a Transform node until the row is correctly aligned. The two compose operators are alternated in the Left input to create the pattern on alternate rows. I've attached a sample file to illustrate.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Paul

OB:
So it looks like the most important part is to position those segments correctly before the first Compose node.

Paul Roberts:
I could have just used one tile and rotated it in RailClone, it's just a little easier to understand this way.

Thanks!

Paul
