Escalator problem
« on: March 17, 2021, 07:34:42 am »
RC 4.2.1 the steps of the escalator from the library are directed along the path, a problem common to all three styles. How to fix it?

You can check the reverse checkbox in Parameters rollout  ;)

Here is fixed escalator styles. Feel free to replace them at installed location:
%localappdata%\Itoo Software\RailClone Pro\lib\default1\Architecture\Interior\Escalators\objects

One note: spline direction matters for these styles. So if something is wrong try reversing it.

Thank. Replaced the files in the library with yours and it worked. It turns out that the problem was in the libraries.
Will you replace escalators with fixed files in Update manager?

We will update via update managers.
We just need to solve some versioning issues, like in this example: in the versions this style was created (I believe v2) it worked correctly. And for new RC versions it needs some changes.

There's also a problem with the "edging" and "underside" not aligning correctly.

Hi,

My apologies, there's been some small change to RailClone since this style was created that's caused a couple of anomalies. Please find attached a version with the issues resolved.

I hope that helps and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Best,
Paul

why is this still not updated? Got the latest RC installed and manager says all objects are up to date, yet the escalators are still troublesome. Models in object folder are from 2021, where they ones you have for download here are 2022. The new ones from the forum worked, but couldn't you push these to the manager instead? Or maybe it's because my "shared RC assets" are point to a network drive, but the library points to the appdata path described in this thread?

here we are again with escalators not really being production ready. Is it something on my end? I have latest RC installed and all libs updated, but the yellow stripe is located wrong. Reversing direction of spline or checking "reverse direction" on the RC's options doesn't work.

I tried downloading the ones from Pauls post in 2022 again, but it's the same issue. Yellow stripe located wrongly.

Only fix was for me to go in and tweak the gradiant ramp like attached.

Is this an issue you can recreate or is it just me? :)

Hi Jens,

Well, these assets are meant to be used worldwide, and unfortunately, what works well in one location might not suit another. In general, there doesn’t appear to be a mandatory standard for the placement of yellow safety lines — there are several “escalator step safety demarcation” styles (for example, as shown here). That said, we’ll consider enhancing these styles to include options for different variations, making such adjustments easier in future updates. Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Cheers Michal, I had no idea there were so many :)

Do you have a tip on how to create "Style A" in the current setup? I can figure out adding yellow lines back and front of the steps via the gradiant, but how would I do the sides? I think this is actually what the client wants (yellow stripe along all 4 sides on the top of the step).

To do this, you can switch the Gradient Type to Box, as shown in the attached screenshot. You should also extract the Step002 segment and remap it — using the UVW Map modifier in Box mode will do the trick. I hope this helps.
