Help with Linear 1S
« on: October 02, 2015, 04:42:37 PM »
Okay, this seems so simple, but why will the evenly segments, not place evenly around my circle?!
I need 8 items evenly spaced...should I not use "evenly" and 1S?
I could have just used Max native array, but...this should be easy for RC.

Thanks,

Hi, closed splines in RailClone are a bit special, because for some processes they are considered as closed, and other as open (with two vertices at start/end stacked).
In this case we didn't consider this possibility for the Evenly rule, so spline is evaluated wrongly as open. I've added the bug in our to-do list.

I've attached a workaround for that. It uses a Start segment to add the missing piece. I've added a Transform node to change the X Alignment to Center, because the default alignment for Start segments is Left.
The drawback of this workaround is that it works only with open splines. For this reason, i've added an Edit Spline modifier to "break" the initial vertex.

I hope that helps.

Hi, that works for now, thank you so much for the prompt and effective response, and example file.
Best wishes,

Okay, now the problem is that some of the segments are not rotating correctly :(

(Yellow stuff is my standard max array.)

TIA

Try turning off Generator->Corner->Align to Path, and increasing the spline interpolation (in the spline, or at Railclone->Geometry>Curve steps).

If that doesn't help, please send us your scene so we can check i.t.

Well, I just started a new one and it works fine.  I'm not sure what was wrong, but I certainly messed up something in the first attempt.
Thanks again for outstanding support
