Title: help with variation in facade elements
Post by: octavt on June 25, 2020, 11:05:04 AM
Hello,

First of all I am quite new to railclone so there might be an easy solution that I am missing out.

I am working on this building (attached image) and was wandering what would be a simple way to variate certain segments (not random) with other variation of the same segments of same size.

I could draw different splines for all different parts of the facade (0,1,2,3), but then the corners don't join well, and also I arrive to have a lot of RC objects . Is there a better way?

Thanks!

Hi.

I would recommend diving to our tutorials (http://www.itoosoft.com/tutorials.php?tag=rc&page=1).
You may also find helpful RailClone's detailed documentation (https://docs.itoosoft.com/railclone).
I would also recommend you to check our RailClone Getting Started (https://docs.itoosoft.com/railclone/getting-started-with-railclone) guide and later our Next Steps with RailClone (https://docs.itoosoft.com/railclone/next-steps-with-railclone) guide as well too.

Variate how ?

That could be one RailClone object with multiple splines/generators. Does not seem like a bad idea for the situation.
Corners can be fixed if You don't require too complicated structure.

Thanks Rokas,

In this case the variation is between two types of facade elements with slightly different geometry (one is without shading, and wider vertical elements)

Also one issue with breaking the contour spline into multiple splines is that is difficult to match the starting vertexes and direction of all the splines and the arrays don't match vertically in some places. I was wandering if there was a possibility to manual select some of the segments to change them, or to have different segments corresponding to different id's of the same spline.

If You would attach Your simplified max file and tell us how You want it to behave we would try to help You.
Wider vertical? that sounds like it will cause same alignment issues.

I am afraid not.
