Add scale option as an alternative to slice
« on: December 11, 2021, 04:59:06 PM »
Hi!
Would it be possible to add a "Scale" option to the segment deform options? Instead of slicing geometry which doesn't fit, it would scale it non-uniformely in the relevant axis, squashing the segment to fit. In cases of irregular objects like natural stones this could yield a better result than slicing and capping.
What do you think?

This will be difficult to implement on the Segment level but you already have those on the Generator level (Rules, and under Default select Mode>Adaptive) and for the last segment You can use building Macros in Transforms-> Scale Final

Thanks!
Mode Adaptive + Start/End Segments doesn't always work as intended. With large random variations I get frequent overlaps. But the "Scale Final" Macro was very helpful. I hadn't noticed that before!

The adaptive mode works only with segments of the same size. Depending on the style you can fake some adaptiveness by nesting generators.
If you have some particular problem please post it here so we can take a look.
Thank you.
