Title: How to get evenly segments to properly space from corner segments
Post by: Lehm_2001 on January 26, 2019, 07:48:38 PM
I'm working on a concrete and glass building and having a small issue.  The default segment is the metal/glass facade and then I have vertical concrete dividers as the evenly pieces.  Those work great together.  However for the corners I was wanting to have thick concrete pillars.  The evenly segments are not taking into account the width of these columns (instead spacing themselves from the corner vertex) and butting directly up against them.  Is there a way to prevent this?

Thanks!

Hi

That is how RailClone evenly feature works- it divides spline evenly, not taking into account width of used geometry.
With practice You will learn to plan ahead in similar situations. Possible workaround attached using two generators and spline modification:

Hope this helps.

Perhaps we need a start and end offset options for evenly distributed segments. I'm hitting the same issue with a style I'm working on, and while there are workarounds like you mentioned, they won't work if the corner segment isn't a fixed size. They also involve preparing more complicated splines that reduce the versatility of the RC styles.

Thanks for the reply.  I did end up changing how I approached this particular issue.  I simply made the evenly segments part of the default segment.  It works for this situation.  I'll consider your solution if that doesn't work the next time.
