How to make many pipes grow from one end to another end one by one ?
Hi iToosoft,
I have a project about a complex network of pipes. I want to make the pipes grow from one end to another end one by one. I tried to animate the "Length" in Base Objects Tab. But all the pipes grew together. I thought I should animate the splines of Railclone pro. But I didn't know how to make lots of animated growth splines.

Can you tell me how can I make the pipes grow one by one ?

Another problem is there are some weird tremble when the growing pipes reach the corners of the splines during the animation. How can I fix it ?

MAX2012 64bit Railclone pro 2.3.3

Thank you very much.

Hi, i tried several methods, but cannot find a simple method to animate one by one. In this case, i suggest to create several RC objects, one by spline.

Regarding the tremble effect, it's caused both by the Fillet radius feature and the Corner segment, which is an unique piece. It can be solved using a different style:
In the attached scene, i used two generators: one for the tube, and other for the ring. I also turned off Corner->Fillet radius, applying the fillet directly on the spline.

I hope that helps.

Helpful to know this Carlos.

Maybe some tutorials on animation added to the site?

Hi,

Some animation tutorials could be interesting. Do you have any ideas about the types of things you'd like to see?

Many thanks,

Paul

mmm?, my day job is animating build and construction sequences so I have many ideas.  I see Railclone as a modelling tool, not sure how it would evolve as an animation tool also, but it would be very powerful to have.  Knowledge of some basics possible would be helpful.

my tuppence worth ... growing pipes and 'lines', (as above), animated floor / ceiling tiles so 'waves' can be created and animating opacity on individual segments, (maybe splines could be used as gizmos), animate randomisation in materials.  There are scripts that do this but they all involve collapsing the RC, so keeping it 'live' longer could be useful  at times.

Anything really where you can envision building or demolishing in that typical '3d magic' way that everyone goes for that uses opacity and transform in a sequence.  I suppose you have to get around the 'instancing' engine first.

The screen grab below for example shows a typical slab being cut into sections, falling on the Z axis and disappearing.

Hi!

Thanks very much for the suggestions and the examples. I'll see what can be achieved with the current tools and we'll discuss what can be done to make animation easier in the future.

Many thanks!
